Stormwater Treatment Could Provide Earth With A Greater Supply Of Drinkable Water
As many areas of the United States and many countries in the world face water shortages in the coming years, stormwater treatment is becoming more important. Stormwater treatment is a method of filtering out harmful substances like litter, bits of broken glass, chemicals, gasoline and oil from water that runs along streets and into city drains. When cities have stormwater treatment systems, the water that runs into drains can be filtered and turned into drinking water. Without stormwater treatment, this water, and all of the harmful substances that are carried with it, can easily end up in lakes and rivers, thus contaminating our drinking water. With the looming threat of water shortages, more cities, especially those in third world countries, need to treat stormwater. Stormwater treatment would provide cities that receive enough rain with an abundance of drinking water for their citizens. Affordable water treatment is needed now.
